A few simple tips to get you started in turning your still camera into a video-shooting extravaganza
One of the biggest benefits of the digital age is that a tool once used for taking photographs has now become an all-in-one multimedia package. Just a few years ago, digital cameras were able to take a few minutes worth of grainy video footage not suitable for television. However, with larger memory cards, sensors, and better batteries, our cameras are now capable of taking great video clips and even “Hi Def” video! Not only are small cameras offering both photo and video capability, digital SLR manufacturers have gotten into the game and have recently introduced video into their camera line ups as well. With digital multimedia becoming a part of everyone’s life via portals such as Facebook, personal websites, Youtube and others, it’s very simple to share photos and videos with friends and family. In fact, many of the subjects and their behaviour underwater lend themselves far better to video than still photography.
